Castries Market and "Vendor's Arcade" is a market in Castries , Saint Lucia . It is located at the southeast end of Castries Port , between Bideau Park and King George V Gardens . Jeremie Street and John Compton Highway border the area towards the bay and Baptiste Street to the north . There are more than 300 permanent sellers and, on market days, a hundred or more day sellers.

The open halls were built in 1891 by Bruce & Still Ltd. built from Liverpool . The aim was to improve the appearance of the city. The site was opened by Governor Sir Charles Bruce on July 2, 1894.

Fish and meat are no longer sold on the premises, but the market has become a central shopping location. In 1996 the Castries City Council expanded the site to include a Vendor's Arcade (sales hall). The market has now also become a popular destination for tourists.
