Casuarina Point Lighthouse

The Casuarina Point Lighthouse is located on Marlston Hill in the town of Bunbury in Western Australia , Australia .

The first lighthouse was built from wood in 1870 and was only three meters high. In 1901 it was replaced by a provisional tower made of a skeleton structure, which in turn had to give way to a 9 m high iron tower in 1903. In 1959 the lighthouse was raised by 6 m and the lantern was placed on it. In 1970/71 the tower was increased by a further 10 m to a total height of 25 m. The lantern and the new section from 1959 were reused.

When in 2004 a transmitter for mobile communications was to be installed on the tower, this was prevented by the protest of the population and the city council of Bunbury.

The lighting of the lighthouse consists of three white flashes of light, which light up every 2.4 seconds within an interval of 15 seconds.

The tower is painted with patterns arranged like a chessboard, the base is black. The area of the lighthouse can be entered, but the tower cannot.
