Cat Ballou is a German Kölsch rock band. She became known in 2012 with Et jitt kei Wood .

Band history

The three band members Oliver Niesen, Dominik Schönenborn and Kevin Wittwer played together in school bands with drummer Michael Kraus. Cat Ballou, named after the film of the same name , was founded in 1999 in Bergisch Gladbach, east of Cologne. They performed regionally, and in 2008 their first album, chocolate, was released . The quartet had their first major success in the same year as the winner of the Cologne Rocks band competition . The following year they released the EP roller coaster and the single Kokosnuss and in January 2012 their album Neulich .

In the autumn of the same year they wrote Et jitt kei Wood (There is no word) a song about the city of Cologne, with which they won the Loss mer singe competition in the final spurt of the carnival in early 2013 . Then the piece made it into the German single charts. Initially, the group was under contract with Pavement Records , but founded their own label called MIAO Records in October 2017. In March 2018, drummer Michael Kraus was replaced by Hannes Feder after a long illness.
