Mo-Torres (civil Moritz Helf ; born July 13, 1989 ) is a German rapper from Cologne .

Life

Moritz Helf grew up in the Ehrenfeld district of Cologne and attended the Montessori grammar school in the Bickendorf district from 2000 to 2008 .

In mid-2011 he released the self-produced album Moralapostel , on which he is supported by Timeless among others . He gained fame through the publication of his songs on the video platform Youtube . In 2011 he won the “ CashMo pumps the beat” contest. On October 26, 2012, his own crew 571 Edelweiß released his album Ambivalenz . Guest parts on the album had, among others, the befriended rappers Timeless, Nekst86, CashMo and others. The instrumentals and beats come from Johnny Pepp and Jumpa , among others . In addition to local appearances, he then also appeared nationwide.

After Mo-Torres made a name for himself through various labels, he was signed by the Gevelsberg independent label Versunkene Fabrik . His album Irgendwo Inbetween was publicly presented and released physically and digitally on July 10, 2015. After the contract expired in August 2015, he was active without label support. Mo-Torres supported and sang several times with rapper Timeless, for example in the song Kein Berg zu hoch or in In mein Hand .

At Sytros he produced the unofficial fan promotion song 1. Bundesliga, we are back, written by Gigi D'Agostino to the melody of L'amour toujours ! (Döp Dö Dö Döp) for 1. FC Köln , through whose maxi-CD version, which was newly mixed at ZYX Music together with Eko Fresh , Sülo der Boss, Venloerstross and Jumbo Star, he became better known.

Mo-Torres performed at the Out4Fame Festival in 2014 and on June 1, 2015, he could be seen with his single 5051 at Joiz in Berlin . In addition, he presented his songs at the official season opening of 1. FC Köln. Mo-Torres also appeared twice in the FC stadium.

Mo-Torres is a student and also works in project management.

In 2016, Mo-Torres released the single Liebe Deine Stadt , a city anthem on Cologne, together with Cat Ballou and Lukas Podolski . The single reached number 26 in the German single charts . In addition, Liebe Deine Stadt was the most downloaded German song on the weekend of its release. As part of the song, they presented the song at a game of the Rheinstars Cologne and before the home game of 1. FC Cologne against Borussia Dortmund. As part of the Cologne Carnival , Mo-Torres was one of the celebrities on the Rose Monday procession . In addition, the Cologne native accompanied the band Cat Ballou at numerous concerts. He was seen in the Kölnarena as well as in well-known Cologne venues such as the Satory halls , the Palladium and the Gürzenich .

Music genre

In his songs he particularly addresses personal issues, expresses himself socially critical of politics and world affairs and is stylistically far removed from street rap and gangster rap.
