Caracas Cathedral

The Cathedral of Caracas is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Caracas .

She is St. Consecrated to Anna.

Construction began in 1666 by Juan De Medina to replace a smaller church on the site that was destroyed in an earthquake in 1641. The cathedral construction was completed in 1674. The facade from 1771 is the work of Francisco Andrés de Meneses . After the earthquake in Caracas in 1812 , one of the church towers was damaged and later reduced in size. In 1932 and in the 1960s the church building was extensively restored and modified.

In the church building are the remains of Simón Bolívar's parents and wife .
