Catonius Iustus
Catonius Iustus († 43 AD ) was a military officer of the early Roman Empire .
Catonius Iustus was a high-ranking centurion of one of the three Pannonian legions who revolted after Tiberius ascended the throne in AD 14. When Drusus put down the rebellion, Catonius Iustus and a few other people were sent to Tiberius to ask for a pardon.
The next news about Catonius Iustus is not available until the year 43 AD, when he officiated as Praetorian prefect . That year he was murdered on the orders of the Empress Valeria Messalina , allegedly because he wanted to tell Claudius about her sexual debauchery, which she had previously managed to hide from her husband.
