The Caudron aircraft company (pronunciation [ kɔˈdʁɔ̃ ]) ( Société des avions Caudron ) was a French aircraft construction company founded in 1909 by the brothers Gaston Caudron (1882-1915) and René Caudron (1884-1959) in Rue .

history

Since the beginning of the First World War , the brothers made a name for themselves in the aviation industry by building high-performance combat aircraft. After the war, René Caudron devoted himself to civil aviation. In 1920, the French pilot Adrienne Bolland was hired as a test pilot and hit the headlines when she crossed the Andes in a Caudron G-III in April 1921 . The Caudron airline's success continued until 1933. However, as a result of the establishment of the Guyancourt site , which had been opened in 1930, the group ran into financial difficulties and was bought by Louis Renault on July 1. The name was then changed to Société anonyme des avions Caudron . The company then concentrated only on the construction of light aircraft .
