The Cava d'Ispica or Cava for short is a 13 km long, deep limestone gorge near Ispica on the island of Sicily in Italy .

location

The gorge is located in the area of Ispica . The north of the gorge can be reached from the SS 115 Ispica - Modica . From the SS 115 it is another 6 km to the gorge. The remains of a village can be seen on one side. Until 1935 people lived here in caves called "Spaccaforno". There is also a necropolis here (see Tomba del Principe (Cava d'Ispica) ). The "Parco Archeologico Forza" is created. On the other side is the saint grotto, named after images of saints on the walls.

Surroundings

Near the gorge are catacombs from the 4th – 5th centuries. Century AD. The grotto Santa Maria with three graves is also located here.
