Caviaga

Caviaga is a fraction of the municipality of Cavenago d'Adda . In 2001 Caviaga had 376 inhabitants.

The small farming village was first mentioned in 1225.

Previously an independent municipality, it became a district of San Martino in Strada during the Napoleonic era (1809-1816) , and regained its autonomy through the establishment of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto .

In 1841 the village of Muzza Piacentina was incorporated into Caviaga.

At the time of the unification of Italy (1861) the municipality of Caviaga had 797 inhabitants. In 1869 it was incorporated into Cavenago.

After the Second World War, important reserves of natural gas were discovered near Caviaga. The center became the headquarters of Agip .
