Cecil Crawford O'Gorman
Cecil Crawford O'Gorman (* 1874 , † 1943 ) was an Irish mining engineer who was later known as a painter in Mexico .
biography
Cecil O'Gorman was the son of John O'Gorman , whose father Charles O'Gorman was the first British consul in Mexico in August 1923. At the end of the 19th century, Cecil O'Gorman went to Mexico on behalf of a British mining company and shortly after arrival married his cousin Encarnación O'Gorman . The marriage to Encarnación had four children, including the architect Juan O'Gorman and the historian Edmundo O'Gorman . In Mexico he worked in the mining industry near Pachuca and Guanajuato , but began painting when the revolution there broke out in Mexico City . He painted portraits of well-known Mexicans, landscapes and murales and exhibited again and again. After his death, a solo exhibition was dedicated to him in the Palacio de Bellas Artes .
