Cecilia Gauna

Cecilia Gauna (* in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine singer and composer .

Life

Gauna studied piano with Ines Gómez Carrillo , harmony with Sergio Hualpa and Juan Carlos Cirigliano and singing with Noemí Souza , Renate Parussel , José Luis Sarré and Marcela Pietrokovsky . She teaches singing at the Conservatorio Provincial Juan José Castro .

With the composer and writer Eduardo Abel Giménez , Gauna formed the duo El perof , for which they both composed, and she became a member of the Melodías de Hollywood quartet . She later joined the early music ensemble Música Ficta , formed a jazz duo with guitarist Ricardo Wolanski , became a singer in the rock band Zona Tribunal and, for a short time, was a member of the Teatro Colón choir . She also performed with musicians such as Jairo , Mercedes Sosa , Valeria Lynch , Ariel Ramírez , Nestor Marconi , Juan Alberto Pugliano and Leo Sujatovich . She took part in the cycle Vamos a la Opera of the Fundacion Konex and performed as a Zarzuela singer at the Teatro Avenida .

Since 2004 Gauna has increasingly turned to composition and set poems by Latin American poets to music. In 2006 her first album Non Stop was released under the musical direction of Mariano Agustín Fernández . In 2010 the second album Aliento followed with his own compositions and lyrics.
