Jairo (aka Mario Rubén González , born June 16, 1949 in Cruz del Eje ) is an Argentine singer.

Live and act

González performed in various programs in Cordoba in his youth and became a member of a rock group called the Twister Boys . He made his debut under the name Marito González at the Hotel Savoy in Buenos Aires, appeared in television shows such as the Show del Mediodía , Escala Musical and Sábados Continuados and released his debut album El laberinto .

In 1970 he took the stage name Jairo and went to Madrid, where his album Emociones was created. The following year he received the second prize and first prize of the jury at the Festival de la Costa del Sol in Malaga with the song Javier y Paloma . In 1975 he recorded the album Jairo canta a Borges , on which he wrote poems by Jorge Luis Borges , set to music by Astor Piazzolla , Carlos Guastavino , Julián Plaza , Eladia Blázquez , Alberto Cortéz , Facundo Cabral , Daniel Piazzolla , Eduardo Falú , Rodolfo Mederos and Gustavo Leguizamón sang.

From 1977 Jairo lived in France, where he recorded several French-language albums, including Beaux Noel du Monde , with which he won a gold record . In 1981 he recorded songs with Astor Piazzolla that he and Horacio Ferrer had composed for him, including the Milonga de Trovador . Jean Paul Bourdeauducq made a short film for the album Le Diable (1984) , which was shown in many cinemas in France. On the album La trace de mes pas (1986) Jaira a. a. Piazzollas Gotango based on a poem by Jean Marc Chérino .

In 1990 Jairo performed at the Teatre des Mazades in Toulouse in the show REVOLVER -El fantasma del Río de La Plata for the 100th birthday of Carlos Gardel and sang Gardel's classics such as Volver , Cuesta abajo , Melodía de arrabal , Caminito , Mano a mano , Caminito soleado and Guitarra mía as well as compositions by Daniel Salzano . The program was recorded on CD in the same year.

In 1993 Jairo returned to Argentina and performed at the Buenos Aires Opera House with the Cielo program , which was also produced on CD. The next year he celebrated his 25th stage anniversary at the Teatro Libertador San Martín in Córdoba and the Buenos Aires Opera with musicians such as Pedro Aznar , Eladia Blázquez , Ana Belén , Mercedes Sosa , Víctor Heredia , Jaime Torres , Piero , Peteco Carabajal , Carlos Jiménez , Tomás Lipán and Silvia Lallana .

On the CD Atahualpa por Jairo Jairo sang songs by Atahualpa Yupanqui . Between 2000 the Diario del regreso by Oscar Cardozo Ocampo and Hamlet Lima Quintana was written about the discovery of the remains of Ernesto "Che" Guevara and their transfer to Cuba. The piece premiered in the Plaza de la Revolución in Santa Clara and played three days later at the Teatro Nacional in Havana. After his return from Cuba, Jairo Puro Jairo produced a selection of his songs from three decades on four CDs.
