Oscar Cardozo Ocampo

Oscar Cardozo Ocampo (born December 27, 1942 in Buenos Aires , † July 21, 2001 in Resistencia ) was an Argentine arranger, pianist and composer.

The son of the Paraguayan composer Mauricio Cardozo Ocampo had piano lessons with María de Satcht and composition lessons with Pedro Sáenz . He worked as arranger and musical director for musicians such as Mercedes Sosa , Teresa Parodi , León Gieco , María Elena Walsh , Eduardo Falú , Peteco Carabajal and Camerata Bariloche . In addition to more than 35 film scores, he also composed music for the theater and was musical director of television productions such as Badía y Compañía , La bonita página and De carne somos .

In 1979 Cardozo Ocampo received the Gran Premio Arreglista , in 1986 he was awarded the Gran Premio SADAIC (Sociedad Argentina de Autores y Compositores de Música). In 1995 the Fondacion Konex awarded him an honorary diploma and the Premio Konex in platinum. In July 2001, he was killed in a car accident.
