The Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) is a Stanford University institution specializing in computer music . It is directed by the Swiss composer Chris Chafe .

Life

The CCRMA was founded in 1975 by John Chowning . It was funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts . At the center a. developed the FM synthesis and the digital waveguide model. The patents became the second most important license for the university. Recently, Stanford et al. a. Compositions by Jonathan Berger , Christopher Burns , Chris Chafe, Damián Keller , Jonathan Norton , Juan Reyes , Gary Scavone and Peter Traub .
