The Zentralblatt der Bauverwaltung (until 1902: Centralblatt der Bauverwaltung ) was a specialist journal for construction and architecture that appeared in German . It appeared for the first time on April 2, 1881, was from 1931 united with the Zeitschrift für Bauwesen and was published by Wilhelm Ernst & Sohn in Berlin .
The magazine was initially managed by Otto Sarrazin and Hermann Eggert . The publisher was the Prussian Ministry of Public Works until May 1920 and then the Prussian Ministry of Finance .
Contents of the Zentralblatt formed u. a. official notices, presentations of new buildings, reports on competitions and exhibitions, book reviews and obituaries. Due to the nature of the publisher, the focus of the discussed new buildings was on public buildings such as schools, barracks, official buildings and traffic structures. But churches that received a building grant for their construction were also shown.
The magazine appeared irregularly from the first year in 1880, but at least once a week. From 1898 the Centralblatt appeared regularly twice a week. From 1924 until it was discontinued in 1931, the publication of the Zentralblatt was reduced to once a week. Since the individual issues only have a small number of pages, longer articles often appeared in sequels across several issues, but not necessarily in sequential issues. From around 1870, the wood engravings created by Otto Ebel shaped the magazine for around 20 years. A few architectural wood engravings by Ebels appeared here until at least 1899 .
