The Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP) is an international research center based in La Molina near Lima ( Peru ). Research activities on potatoes , sweet potatoes and other root or tuber crops are undertaken with the aim of sustainable poverty reduction and food security in developing countries . The management of natural resources in the Andes and other mountain regions is also a subject of research.

In the Peruvian Andes, east of Cuzco, is the Parque de la Papa , in which, with the support of the Centro, local farmers grow more than 900 different types of potatoes at an altitude between 3,200 and 4,800 meters.

Scientists from 25 countries work at the CIP. Funding is mainly provided by grants from 58 countries, private foundations and international and regional organizations. It is a research institution affiliated with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
