Centrum Democrats

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Centrum Democrats (CD) were a Dutch political party. The right-wing extremist and xenophobic party was founded in 1984 as a split from the Centrumpartij . Between 1989 and 1998 she had one to three seats in Parliament (Second Chamber).

The political leader of the party was the social studies teacher Hans Janmaat , who had been an independent member of parliament since 1982 for the Centrumpartij and from 1984–1986. In the municipal council elections in 1990 the party won a total of eleven seats, in 1994 even 77. After the success in the election to the second chamber in 1994 with three seats, the party quickly disintegrated due to internal disputes. In the 1999 European elections it was only 0.5 percent.

The Burgerpartij Nederland was a spin-off from the CD . The CD itself are inactive, but not officially dissolved.
