Cereus hildmannianus is a species of plant in the genus Cereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the Germancactusgrower Heinrich Hildmann, whoowned a cactus nurseryin Birkenwerder .
description
Cereus hildmannianus grows tree-shaped, is richly branched and reaches heights of growth of up to 10 meters. A distinct trunk is formed. The cylindrical, segmented, blue-green to cloudy green shoots are often glaucous when young . They have a diameter of up to 15 centimeters. There are four to six sharp-edged ribs that are up to 3.5 centimeters high. The areoles on it are small. Thorns are usually not formed.
The white flowers are 25 to 30 centimeters long. The spherical fruits are colored red to yellow. They contain a white pulp .
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Cereus hildmannianus is believed to be common in Brazil , Mato Grosso do Sul , Paraguay , Uruguay , Bolivia and Argentina . The first description was published in 1890 by Karl Moritz Schumann .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered. The subspecies were not recorded separately.
