Ceroklis
Ceroklis is a Latvian god of crops.
Lore
Ceroklis is mentioned in some texts from the early 17th century under the names Corakle , Cerroklis and Dewing Cereklicing . He is described as the god of fields and crops ( deus agrorum frumentorumque ), to whom a black cattle, a black chicken or a black pig and beer are sacrificed at certain times. According to another source, the first bite of food and the first sip of drink were offered to him.
Ceru mate
In the Latvian folklore, Ceroklis is not mentioned, instead the Ceru māte , the » shrub mother « , appears here . Since the name Ceroklis can be derived from the verb cerot "perennial", a connection between the two deities can be assumed.
