Cesare Meano

Cesare Meano (born December 22, 1899 in Turin , † November 24, 1957 in Palermo ) was an Italian screenwriter and theater director .

Life

Meano graduated with a law degree and then devoted himself to journalism; he wrote for the Corriere della Sera and Fiera Letteraria . In 1926 he founded the "Teatro del Nuovo Spirito" in his hometown and from then on worked almost exclusively as an author and director for the stage. The works he wrote from 1935 onwards include La nascita di Salomè (which he later rewrote to a screenplay for Jean Choux ), Avventure di Don Chisciotte , Melisenda per me , Ventiquattr'ore felici , Incontri nella notte and Diana non vuole amore . His last success was Bella in 1956 . As a director he also directed Pirandello , Strindberg and others. He was involved in the scriptwriting of a handful of films; In 1934 he staged the almost completely unnoticed Frontiere based on his own book and was also responsible for editing.

In 1932 Meano published the novel Questa povera Arianna , which received the gold medal of the Premio di Viareggio .
