The CfR Hardt (officially: Club für lawn games Hardt eV ) was a sports club from the Mönchengladbach district of Hardt . The first soccer team played for a year in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.

history

The CfR Hardt was founded in 1931. The club had its most successful period immediately after the end of the Second World War . In 1947 the lawn players were among the founding members of the Lower Rhine Regional League , the highest amateur league. There the team met Rot-Weiss Essen, among others . The high point of the 1947/48 season was the 3-2 derby win against the Rheydter Spielverein in front of 6,500 spectators. Despite the success, the team had to relegate at the end of the season.

In 1952 the promotion came within reach, but the CfR was only runner-up behind the SpVg Odenkirchen . In the following years things slowly went downhill for the club, before relegation to the district class followed in 1957. A few years later the club reached its sporting low point with the descent into the 2nd district class . 1962 succeeded in promotion, before the club had to relegate again in 1970 to the 2nd district class. In response to this, the CfR Hardt merged with the DJK Hardt in 1919 to form SC Hardt .
