Château Lafleur
The Château Lafleur is a famous French winery and is located in the Pomerol wine region near Bordeaux . The small winery has a vineyard area of only 4.5 hectares ; the average age of the vines is 30 years. The vineyards are currently planted with 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc . The château called "The Flower" is owned by the Guinaudeau family .
The wine
The Lafleur wine is considered to be one of the richest and most elegant Pomerol wines. The best vintages are 2003 (95PP) + (97 points Wine Spectator), 2000 ( wine evaluation : 100 Parker points ), 1999 (93 PP), 1998 (90 PP), 1990 (97 PP), 1989 (95 PP) , 1985 (96 PP) and 1982 (100 PP).
The wine from Lafleur is often referred to as "The Little Pétrus" after its famous neighbor, the Château Pétrus further south . Despite the small size of the estate, Lafleur uses a second wine , the “Pensées de Lafleur”, for quality control.
Château Lafleur also produces 4 other wines in the Fronsadais; Château Grand Village, Château Grand-Village, G Acte and Les Champs Libres.
