Château de Malortie

The Château de Malortie is a partially preserved castle-like property and former aristocratic residence in France near Saint-Loup-du-Gast near Ambrières-les-Vallées in the Mayenne department ( Pays de la Loire region ).

In the 19th century, the resident Count Ludovic de Malortie-Campigny (1801–1876) had the castle expanded and renovated before it was destroyed by a fire on the night of December 22nd to 23rd, 1866 - and with the castle too the furniture, numerous art treasures, the library and the archive of the von Malortie family . The count died in the castle in 1876. In 1884 it was owned by the du Pontavis family.

Some postcards of the castle date from the first half of the 20th century ; so exhibits a light pressure from 1915 mimeographed map the building under the name "Château de Malartie", others call it a "château de Malorty".
