Château des Thons (New York)
The Château des Thons is a small castle in the US state of New York .
history
In 1926 Ashbel H. Barney toured Europe and came to France . There he fell in love with a castle, the Château des Thons ( Lage ), of which he soon acquired the right half and, after some quarrels with the French authorities, stone by stone, panel by panel, in meticulously numbered boxes, by private steamboat in 1928 to America. Once there, Barney had the castle rebuilt on his property on Long Island . Today it is located at Brookville Cemetery, Wolver Hollow Road, Upper Brookville.
