Cha Cha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ChaCha is a text message answering service launched in the USA in January 2008 and operated by ChaCha Search in Carmel , Indiana, USA.

The registered user can ask short questions via SMS or voice, which are then processed and answered by “guides” within a very short time via SMS. These "guides" work on a freelance basis and receive financial compensation for each question they deal with. The service is financed through advertising, among other things. Together with the answer, the user receives a link to a short advertising message. Based on the user profile and the evaluation of the question, the advertising message can be directed very precisely to specific target groups. Above all, Barack Obama's SMS campaign , in which he targeted potential voters in the so-called “ swing states ” , became known internationally . In the fourth quarter of 2008, 74 million inquiries are said to have been made via ChaCha. That would supposedly correspond to 70% of the volume of the similar service from Google .
