history

With Bozhöyük and Çayırlı, there are two old settlement mounds from the Copper Age in Kurtalan .

Although the history of the region, which was formerly called Garzan, is old, the town of Kurtalan is relatively young. The village of Misirc was renamed Kurtalan on June 1, 1938 and the main town of the district changed from Zok to Kurtalan. At the same time, Zok was renamed Yanarsu. According to the city seal, Kurtalan was raised to Belediye in 1945.
