Şirvan ( Kurdish Şêrwan ) is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the southeastern Anatolian province of Siirt . The city of Sirvan (linear distance: approx. 16 km) is approx. 28 km from the provincial capital Siirt.

The former name of the administrative unit and the city was Küfre. This name comes from Assyrian and means "village" there. Today Küfre is the name of a district of Şirvan.

The district is located in the north of the province and borders on Baykan district in the west, the central district ( Merkez ) of the provincial capital Siirt and Tillo district in the southwest and Pervari district in the southeast and the Bitlis province in the north.

In addition to the district town, the district consists of 57 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 317 inhabitants. Cevizlik (1,345), Taşlı (1,276), Ormanbağı (977) and Madenköy (802 inh .) Are the largest villages, 23 villages have 317 or more inhabitants. With its population density of 24.1 (inh. Per km²), the district remains below half the provincial value (58.0). The urban population is only 20 percent.
