The Chafariz de Massamá is a fountain in the Portuguese freguesia Massamá .

history

The source gives the place its name. The geonym Mactamã means “place with good water” or “spring”. The fountain itself was built in 1863 by the Ministry of Public Works. On the occasion of its centenary, a memorial stone for Francisco Rodrigues was installed in 1963 at the request of the population .

description

The fountain consists of a straight back wall flanked by two pilasters . Two gargoyles feed a simple rectangular basin from it. On the left and right, the facility is framed by two curved walls with benches.
