The Chai Bar Karmel Nature Reserve is a 6,000 dunams (600 hectares) breeding and settlement center managed by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority and located in the Carmel Mountains in northwest Israel. The Chai-Bar Karmel has a Mediterranean climate and forms the counterpart to the Chai-Bar-Jotvata- Park, which is located in the desert.
Endangered animals that are no longer indigenous to the country and are mentioned in the Bible are bred here for possible reintroduction in the Mediterranean forests of northern Israel.
