Israel Nature and Parks Authority
The Israel Nature and Parks Authority , INPA for short ( Rəschut ha-Teva wə-ha-Ganim , Hebrew רְשׁוּת הַטֶּבַע וְהַגַּנים, translit .: Rəšūt ha-Teva wə-ha-Ganīm; German: " Authority of Nature and Gardens "; ) is the government agency that manages and supervises the nature reserves and national parks in Israel . The Jerusalem-based authority was created in 1998 by merging the authority for the management of nature reserves and the authority for the national parks, which had existed since 1964.
Regions
INPA looks after a total of 41 national parks and 13 nature reserves. The care work is divided into six regions:
- Golan Heights , Sea of Galilee and Galilee
- Lower Galilee and the Galilee Valleys
- Carmel Mountains , the Mediterranean coast and central Israel
- Judea and the Dead Sea
- the Negev desert
- Eilat and the Arava Valley on the Jordanian border
