Khalid Abu Silmiyya
Chalid Abu Silmiyya (born October 24, 1971 , † September 20, 2004 in Gaza ) was a militant leader of the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas . He was a commander of the Kassam Brigades , named after Ezzedin el Kassam and founded in 1992 , the armed arm of Hamas.
Abu Silmiyya was involved in the planning and construction of the so-called Qassam rockets , which Hamas has been firing from the Gaza Strip into southern Israeli territory and into Israeli tanks and military jeeps since 2003.
The Israeli Air Force killed him on September 20, 2004 with a targeted shot at his car in Gaza City.
