Chalcidian crater
The Chalcidian crater , also known as bow-handle crater , is a variant of the Greek wine-mixing vessel crater .
In Corinth , the Chalcidian crater was invented in the late Corinthian phase of black-figure vase painting (around 575 to 550 BC) as a modified variant of the column crater . An abbreviated volute was attached over the two-part bow handles . The Chalcidian crater connects the Colonette Crater with the Volute Crater . The form was mainly adopted in southern Italy.
