The Champ Clark Bridge is a steel truss bridge, the five spans of which run over the Mississippi River and connect the city of Louisiana , Missouri, to the east bank of Illinois . US Highway 54 leads over the bridge in a north-easterly direction to Pittsfield , where this highway ends.
The bridge is named after James Beauchamp Clark . He was from 1911-1919 Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and came from Bowling Green , Missouri .

In 1999 and 2005 it was renovated by the Missouri Department of Transportation . In 2005 it also got its current gray color.
The structure is 697 m long and the main span over the main arm of the Mississippi River has a length of 128 m.
