Chamra (חַמְרָה also חמרא) is illegal under international law, was established in 1971 moshav in Israel's regional association Bik'at Hajarden in the West Bank (including Judea and Samaria ). In 2017 the place had 126 inhabitants. Chamra is located south of the Nachal Tirza River (נַחַל תִּרְצָה) near the ancient city of Tirza .

history

The place was originally called Atarot (עטרות also עטרה), a name that is mentioned in the Bible as the border of the tribe of Joseph ( Book of Joshua 16/3). Later the place was named after the neighboring Tel Chamra (תל חמרה).

On February 6, 2002, a 50-year-old Israeli woman, her 11-year-old daughter and a soldier were murdered in an attack by several Palestinian terrorists.
