Chander Alimchandani

Chander Alimchandani (* 1935 ) is an Indian civil engineer.

Alimchandani graduated from the University of Pune in 1957 and then spent two years in France to train in prestressed concrete with Eugène Freyssinet and his company STUP. Then he was back in India as the technical director of a medium-sized construction company for prestressed concrete. From 1962 he worked for STUP Consultants in Mumbai, where he became chief engineer. A number of large prestressed concrete bridges over rivers in northern India were made by him. He built the company into an independent construction company that was also active in the Middle East and in Southeast Asia and Africa.

In 1994 he received the International Award of Merit in Structural Engineering . In 1986 he received the fip medal.
