Changdao

Changdao ( Chinese  长岛 县 , Pinyin Chángdǎo Xiàn ) is a former district of the prefecture -level city of Yantai in east China 's Shandong Province . On June 5, 2020, the State Council of the People's Republic of China approved a motion by the Shandong Provincial Government to merge the district with the formerly independent city of Penglai to form Penglai District .

The circle included the Miaodao Islands between the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. It had an area of ​​56 km² and in 2001 had about 50,000 inhabitants. Its main town was the large community of Nanchangshan (南 长 山镇) on the island of the same name.

The late Paleolithic Beizhuang site ( 北 庄 遗址 , Beizhuang yizhi , English Beizhuang Site ) has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (4-10) since 1996 .
