The Chaos Computer Club Vienna ( C3W ) was founded on October 5th, 2002 as Chaosnahe Gruppe Wien ( CNGW ). On September 1, 2007, the association's activities were discontinued, and it was decided to reactivate it on January 18, 2016.

The C3W itself, like other groups close to chaos in Austria, is an independent association close to the Chaos Computer Club . According to Austrian association law, the C3W has all the offices that an association must hold.

The club rooms are in the Metalab . Every third Tuesday of the month members and friends of Viennese chaos meet for “Chaos. Communication. Caffeine. "

“The Chaos Computer Club Vienna (C3W) is a community of people, regardless of gender, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, ethnicity and social position, which works across borders for freedom of information, critical handling of electronic media and the risks and side effects of electronic communication and the diffusion of free technologies and standards and the knowledge of this development promotes. The PrivacyWeek is an annual, week-long series of events on the subject of privacy. It has been held annually since 2016.

Chaos goes to school

Chaos macht Schule is an initiative with the aim of strengthening pupils, parents and teachers in the areas of media competence and understanding of technology and enabling a look behind the scenes of the digital world.

Federal Trojan

The Chaos Computer Club Vienna, in cooperation with the Chaos Computer Club, issued a detailed statement on the draft of the Federal Ministry of Justice "(192 / ME XXV. GP)".

OATH

At the end of May 2017, the Chaos Computer Club Vienna issued an opinion on the ministerial draft 316 / ME.

Security package

On July 10, 2017, the C3W published its statement on the draft security package of the Austrian Federal Government, thereby highlighting some fundamental rights concerns. The statement followed on August 21, 2017.
