The Chappell Islands ( English Chappell Islands ) are an uninhabited group of islands in the Bass Strait between Australia and Tasmania . The group belongs to the Furneaux Archipelago and is located about nine kilometers off the southwest coast of Flinders Island .
In 1798 Matthew Flinders discovered the archipelago. He named it after his wife Ann Chappelle .
