Charbel Wehbe

Charbel Wehbe ( Arabic شربل وهبة, DMG Šarbil Wahba ; *  July 15, 1953 ) is a Lebanese diplomat and politician. He has been Foreign Minister in the Diab cabinet since August 3, 2020 .

Life

Wehbe received a diploma in mathematics from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Lebanese University in 1974 and then studied law at the Higher Institute of Wisdom for Law Studies. He holds a bachelor's degree in Lebanese law from the Lebanese University Faculty of Law in 1979. Wehbe then completed a career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. Wehbe has held several diplomatic positions in the Lebanese embassies in Cairo, The Hague, Berlin and the Consulate General of Lebanon in Toronto. From 2007 to 2012 he was Lebanon's Ambassador to Venezuela, from 2002 to 2007 Consul General of Lebanon in Los Angeles, from 1995 to 2000 Consul General of Lebanon in Montreal. When Wehbe left the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Michel Aoun appointed him his advisor for diplomatic affairs from October 2017. Charbel Wehbe was appointed Lebanon's new Foreign Minister on August 3, 2020, replacing Nassif Hitti .
