Nassif Hitti

Nassif Hitti ( Arabic ناصيف حتي, DMG Nāṣīf Ḥittī ; * 1950 in Tripoli ) is a Lebanese diplomat and politician. From January to early August 2020 he was Foreign Minister in the Diab cabinet .

Live and act

Hitti earned a bachelor's and master's degree in political science from the American University of Beirut and then a PhD in international relations from the University of Southern California . He is the author of The Theory of International Relations and The Arab World and the Five Superpowers: Futuristic Study ; he also writes articles for Annahar (Lebanon), Shorouk (Egypt) and expanded Arabic magazines. Hitti has also been a visiting professor at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies in Malta and has been a frequent lecturer at several western universities and research centers. He has also regularly participated in numerous forums and conferences on the Middle East, the Mediterranean and international politics in general. Hitti was his country's representative in the League of Arab States and, from 2000, head of the Arab League Mission in Paris. He is a former representative of Lebanon to UNESCO and a member of the board of directors of Al-Monitor magazine. He has been a Foreign Minister in Hassan Diab's cabinet since January 21 . On August 3, 2020, Hitti resigned from his post as foreign minister in protest at what he believed to be the poor performance of the government. Diab immediately accepted the resignation.
