Charles-August Mengin
Charles-August Mengin (born July 5, 1853 in Paris , † April 3, 1933 ibid) was a French sculptor and painter of academic realism . He was a student of Alexandre Cabanel .
In 1876 he exhibited his works for the first time at the Paris Salon and was regularly represented there until 1927. His pictures have only recently been rediscovered and reassessed, with one famous exception: Sappho from 1877.
