Charles A. Whitten Medal

The Charles A. Whitten Medal is an award in geophysics from the American Geophysical Union (AGU). It is awarded in honor of geodesist Charles A. Whitten (1909-1994) by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey, who was Secretary General of the AGU from 1968 to 1974. It has been awarded every two years since 1985 for outstanding achievements in researching the shape and dynamics of the earth and the planets . The first winner was Whitten.
