Charles Gale (physicist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charles Gale (* 1957 ) is a Canadian theoretical physicist.

Gale received his PhD from McMaster University in 1963 with Sub Das Gupta . He teaches at McGill University .

He is concerned with QCD matter that forms in heavy ion collisions and compact stellar objects. In addition, he deals with quantum field theories at finite temperature (about which he wrote a book) and numerical hydrodynamic simulation of heavy ion collisions.

In 2015 he received the CAP-CRM Prize . Three areas were highlighted: Determination of the equation of state for heavy ion collisions at medium energies, the use of photons, lepton pairs and jets to characterize the hot, dense matter that forms in the heavy ion collisions, and the implementation of an advanced computer code for the calculation of heavy ion collisions with relativistic, viscous hydrodynamics.
