Charles Henry Smith
Charles Henry Smith (born October 3, 1865 in Washington, DC , † July 11, 1942 in Hollywood ) was an American author and actor .
Life
He was first mentioned as a screenwriter in the 1921 film The Silver Lining . Later worked on the story and gags for the Buster Keaton films Battling Butler and The General (both 1926). For The General he also appeared in the role of the father of Annabelle Lee ( Marion Mack ) in front of the camera. After he was still writing some of the scripts for less well-known films, Smith retired from the film business in 1929. He was married to Lillian Ashley and died in Hollywood in 1942 at the age of 77.
