Charles Landry (* 1948 ) is a British urban researcher and publicist .

Landry studied in Great Britain, Germany and Italy. As early as the 1970s, he dealt with the subject of the influence of culture and creativity on the future development of cities. In the global transformation process of classic economic and location factors, which goes hand in hand with the softening of the established social systems, he attaches particular importance to the creative potential of cities for their survivability. The ability of people to find unconventional solutions for central tasks is becoming the central resource of the knowledge society . Cities and regions that want to be successful and worth living in in the future must be able to develop, attract and retain creative potential. Charles Landry then developed a four-step strategy for creating a creative city. He works internationally as a consultant for urban development .

His cultural advisory agency Comedia, which he founded in 1978, advises cities around the world on developing their creative potential and has so far implemented around 450 projects in 35 countries. The focus of the work is on the revitalization of urban areas through culture.
