Charles Leslie Wrenn

Charles Leslie Wrenn also CL Wrenn (* 1895 , † 1969 ) was a British philologist and professor of Anglo-Saxon linguistics (Rawlinson and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon). Wrenn also worked as an illustrator for the books I spy by Natalie Sumner Lincoln and Uncle Noah's Christmas party by Leona Dalrymple.

Life

Wrenn taught from 1945 to 1963 as a Fellow of Pembroke College at Oxford University . In 1946 he took over the post of "Rawlinson and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon" as the successor to JRR Tolkien . Like Tolkien, he was a member of the " Inklings " association, which included other professors and writers such as CS Lewis , Nevill Coghill , Colin Hardie and Hugo Dyson .
