Charles Windolph

Charles Windolph ( 1851 - 1950 ) was an American soldier . Windolph was the last survivor of the Battle of Little Big Horn .

Career

Windolph originally came from Germany and emigrated to the USA in 1871. He soon became a soldier.

For his participation in the Battle of Little Big Horn (1876) he was awarded the Medal of Honor , the highest medal of valor in the USA. In 1947 he received the Purple Heart Award.

He died in 1950 at the age of 98. He was buried in Black Hills National Cemetery .
