Charlie Brown Jr

Charlie Brown Jr was a Brazilian rock band that most recently consisted of singer Chorão, guitarists Thiago Castanho and Marcão, bassist Champignon and drummer Bruno Graveto. Her lyrics are mostly in their native language written Portuguese. In addition to rock , you can often feel reggae, ska and hip-hop (music) influences in their songs.

The singer Chorão has another hobby besides music: skateboarding . In the late 1980s, Chorão was considered to be one of the greatest talents on skateboarding in Brazil. The love for skateboarding was also evident on their shows, where it was not uncommon for a halfpipe to be provided in the public area and boarding on the stage.

In 2005 there was a line-up change: the members Marcão (guitar), Renato Pelado (drums) and Champignon (bass) left the band, and were replaced by Thiago Castanho (guitar), Heitor Gomes (bass) and Pinguim (drums) ). In autumn 2007 the new album "Ritmo, Ritual e Responsa" was released on the EMI Brasil label. The next line-up change followed in 2008: Bruno Graveto took over the drums in Pinguim's place. In 2011 Marcão returned to the band as the second guitarist and Champignon.

On March 6, 2013, Chorão died of a cocaine overdose in his apartment in São Paulo. As a result, the remaining band members announced in an interview on April 11, 2013 the breakup of the band.
