Charly-Ann Cobdak

Charly-Ann Cobdak (* 1964 in Munich ) is an American artist and representative of kinetic art . She is a member of the BBK München und Oberbayern eV and the artists' association Kineticus. In November 2016, Charly-Ann Cobdak was involved as a kinetic artist in the exhibition Hommage à Tinguely in the MAG - Montreux Art Gallery as part of the 12th Contemporary Art Fair 2016 in the Montreux Music & Convention Center (2m2c). This special exhibition with 16 contemporary kinetic artists from four countries (CH, D, I, PL) was organized in honor of Jean Tinguely 25 years after his death.

Career

Cobdak's father, James F. (called Jim) Carter (Mount Airy, North Carolina), an American political scientist, came to Germany in the late 1950s as a GI, where he worked as a presenter at AFN Munich for several years . During this time he met the computer scientist Zsuzsanne Hejjas, a native of Budapest who fled to Germany on October 23, 1956 after the Hungarian uprising .

Their daughter Charly-Ann Cobdak has lived and worked in Munich since then, as a freelance artist since 2009.
