Charter Encoding Initiative

The Charters Encoding Initiative (CEI) is a group of scientists working to develop a standard for encoding documents from the Middle Ages and the early modern period using XML . It was created in 2004 at a conference in Munich . The coding suggestions are available as a list and in extracts as a document type definition and XML schema . The working group tries to implement diplomatic concepts with computer-aided information technologies.
